Congressional Lawmakers condemn Apple and Blizzard over Hong Kong censorship

One thing it seems our Congress can agree on is preventing Chinese censorship. Senators Ron Wyden (D-Or), Tom Cotton(R-AR) as well as Congress members Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez(D-NY), Mike Gallagher(R-WI) and Tom Malinowski(D-NJ) sent letters to both Blizzard and Apple condemning them for their actions.

Apple came under fire due to it’s decision to remove HKMap.live from it’s app store. The app was a volunteer ran crowdsourced app that tracks protests in Hong Kong.

Activision Blizzard is being criticized for it’s suspension of Hong Kong based player Chung Ng Wai. He was originally banned for a year and had his prize money taken away for publicly endorsing the pro-democracy demonstrations during a post game interview.
